This is a smaller canvas, a companion piece, to the one above. Same materials, with gesso used for the transfer of the group of marines.
This piece, about 9 X 12", has the gesso transfer technique for the image of Michelangelo's David, and the text is lettered with Speedball nibs, gouache and mica powders. The gilding at the bottom is done with instacoll and gold leaf.
It's available in my Etsy shop

Roann, your canvases and lettering are fantastic!!! I especially like the first one.
I tried to leave you a comment before, I am not sure if it was left in cyberspace or if you have seen me?
I love your style of working.
You have a fresh approach to the calligraphers pen.
very nice
Lovely, as always! You must be having so much fun with these classes!

This is marvelous. I love the combination of materials and techniques. How many times have you take Reggie's class?
These are so beautiful. I love the lettering and layout.
Beautiful work and message.
Where are these classes?
Thank you all for the great comments!
I have taken Reggie's original year long class 3 times. This class was a special one he designed for a few of us in Memphis, and is now taking on the road. Actually, I have known Reggie and studied with him since 1980 in Chicago.
Janet -- thanks. Reggie teaches in 4 cities a year. Check out his website for details. I am also available to teach, if you can get enough people together!
Wow...this is wonderful Roann. I haven't been stopping by my friends blogs lately...Now I'm glad I did!
I've been missing a lot.

Roann -- I love the canvas pieces. I'm curious what size pen (or brush?) you used and what writing fluids. I took Reggie's for the first time last year and am having slow withdrawals from the steady inspiration. Your beautiful work is like a shot in the arm!
